information or to schedule a campus visit go to UT edu [Music] and a very pleasant good afternoon everybody and welcome to winter baseball that's right here in Tampa Florida winter like to the tune of almost 80 degrees baseball it's a sunny day here in Tampa where today Georgia College ranked 16th in Division two baseball taking on the second ranked University of Tampa Spartans it's the rubber game of this three-game series Tampa one yesterday 5-2 for a thrilling one-run game and after Georgia College won the series opener Friday night by the score of three to two again a one-run game both these teams three and two nationally ranked their they've gone at it pretty well I'm Scotland Jack Ickes alongside and nice to be with you partner yeah you know what when we were watching that first game on Friday night it was kind of back and forth early in the game and I said I bet so this is the way it's going to be all weekend couple one-run game so far yeah today the rubber game indeed so let's give you the starting lineups first for disease Georgia College Bobcats Cal gentry will leadoff he will be the shortstop he's an all-american hit 441 last year batting second in centerfield as Logan Maddox in the three hole is Wesley Womack he's a right fielder Brandon Purcell the catcher bats cleanup Nate small will bat 5th he is the left fielder third baseman Garrett green bats sixth the designated hitter today is Brandon caller John Davis is at first base batting eighth and Cassius Jung is the second baseman the pitcher for Georgia College we'll talk about him in a bit but it's Chandler Emison who has no wins no losses in his two games thus far this season the starting lineup for the Tampa Spartans Steven Smith will lead off and play left field he has hit safely in every game and is batting 478 doing what he's supposed to do in that leadoff spot to Earhart the freshman is at second base batting second Darin Miller's the third batting third Harrison Greg he's the home run hitter on this team it's very clear here five games in he has hit his second of the season yesterday he is also has four doubles so he is your extra base hit yes he is for sure Harrison bragg batting fourth at first base Danny serving is the designated hitter today Conner krile will bat sixth in right field Chris Gaffney the catcher and Nick tringle will bat eighth playing centerfield Brandon galley will be the shortstop batting ninth the pitcher Kevin femme and tell a record of one win no losses in his one appearance this year pitched four innings I guess mentally allowed three hits did not allow a run walk one struck out five in his first appearance of the season so here we go Jack let's let's see who wins this one today you know it's been close neither team has really put together any huge innings the Spartans got off to a three runs start yesterday on a scored a run early and then here are some brag follow that up with a a 2-run shot but it hasn't been a lot of timely hitting both teams of close to double digits and hits every game but you're not seeing a 4 or 5 hit inning right I know yesterday I was watching as you and Casey Scoggins called the game that it was interesting that I mean Georgia College had lots of baserunners and they were threatening seemingly every inning here's the first pitch of the game and it's a fastball right down central as Pimentel locates Heath against Kyle Gentry the leadoff man beautiful day says it's 79 and sunny it felt close to 80 here comes pitch number two in Mattel brings it to swing on and flied into the left-center field racing over the left fielder going back Bank on the catch a beautiful play by Smith he just kept going back I thought at first it was gonna hang up there a little long enough for him to make a fairly easy catch but he had to make a difficult play there well you know just before that at-bat I took a look up there some flags atop a couple of these buildings and there's a fairly good wind mulling over that fence in left field and that one just first off it hooked it started out center field ended up beings then headed left center and ended up in just left field and kept going deep so Gentry is robbed of an extra-base hit for sure that's probably a little frustrating for him after hitting 441 last year he's now under 250 for the seasons been held in check this weekend 5 and 21 here's the first pitch fastball outside the Logan Maddox batting 360 87 for 19 this year he has a triple three runs batted in a fastball lined in a centre field there's your first hit of the game on two hops it's picked up by the Tring go he gets it back to the infield to solid yeah injections cymatics is abort has not attempted a stolen base yet this season it's one of the few in the Bobcats starting lineup who has not attempted a stolen base they seem to get out and run a little bit that's kind of been the Jason Ehlers modus operandi with this ball club as he tries to get guys into scoring position any way they can Wesley Womack the left-handed batter stands in hitting 421 eight of nineteen and he hits it to left feel the same kind of a ball way back going back to get it Smith almost an identical play he made the catch this time and he gets it back in that's out number two but again you takes your breath away for just a moment you can tell that the wind is having an effect because both those balls he hit he kind of moved diagonal era sideways and then had to diagnose way back I think you're right that wind is blowing a little harder that I think Steven Smith thought originally he's able to adjust and again you were right it had that hook this is the hooker slide beautiful ice the cleanup hitter stands in 313 on the Year fastball outside ball one logan Maddox at first after the one-out single Gentry and Womack have both lined it to left right now Pimentel doesn't seem to be fooling anybody nobody just hit them where they are swinging the tap foul demons account at one-on-one we talked in earlier broadcasts I know on Friday night that wasn't really a factor but this new awning above the bleachers here really does tend to make a difference to make a lot a lot cooler with that breeze I think it's very comfortable throw the first runner dives back in safely you know just from the fans standpoint it would be blazing hot here and once it gets any deeper into the season but now today it will but that it really does do a nice job you can see through it but it does block a lot of the sunshine there goes the runner swung on high pop-up first baseman bragg calls for it comes in and makes the catch struggle just a bit without a bit of you but runs a hit no airs a man left on first base we played a half an inning it's Georgia College nothing and the Spartans coming to back some of the sponsors bringing you these games this year walk about Australian Cafe and Bakery one of our newest ones South Tampa's newest delight located at 627 South Tower not too far from here walkabout features authentic meat pies pastries and downunder delights open Tuesday through Sunday at 10:00 in the morning try us made walkabout Cafe and Bakery and mr. empanada the beauty of the empanada is its simplicity take any of your favorite foods imagine them inside a pocket of homemade dough that is cooked perfectly until it is golden brown piping hot our empanadas are a culinary treat with 10 locations around the city enjoy old Tampa flavor and mister empanadas you wanted to eat say in there yes food frosted flakes would go probably that works it's in your favorite you got a call mr. empanada see if they can hook you up with that that sounds good I would try a here in the press box a fixer maybe run it out here yeah Scotland along with Jack Ike and we hope you're enjoying your Sunday early afternoon here in Tampa and again near 80 degrees starting pitcher Chandler Emerson making his third appearance of the season and his first start of the year he's gone four and a third innings giving up just one hit has not walked anybody and struck out one as a 2.0 a strikeout for 9 so he's not the big strikeout guy but he's done very well in his limited opportunity at this point he's a junior from Grayson Georgia you look at this lineup or this roster and 90 almost 99% are from Georgia they recruit to state well Steven Smith will lead it off for the Spartans batting 478 of team high 11 hits so far this season in 23 at-bats no homers three runs batted in first pitch breaking ball in there for a strike you had a three for four day yesterday three straight hits to start he gets on he is one of the guys who is a threat to steal in the hole shortstop makes a diving stop Gentry has no play at first with Smith's speed he beats it out without a play so an infield hit starts it off for the Spartans and if you're keeping score at home that makes him 12 for 24 on the year 500 now Casey Scoggins brought this up yesterday you look at Drew Earhart's batting average which is 333 pretty good 7 for 21 he would have a better average except for the fact Stephen Smith gets on base so much and earhart will see here but almost always tries to push him over to second yeah and gives himself up for a number of times yeah and that is what Joe ursa wants him to do that's why he's in the 2nd hole he said that as the season goes along when Richie Revere comes back you might not see Erhart in the second hole giving himself up you might hate this out here's the throw to first not in time enough throw gets away and on to third Joe Smith the Spartans would have runners at the corners I would call that a hit but then the error moved them to third I would think I think so that should be hit and an error an error on the throw meat it out and that is how it's being scored I can hear the discussion the wheels are the discussion wheels were turning Darren Miller coming to the plate actually I want to correct myself it was Miller that has the four doubles the team hi Harrison Bragg has the two home runs the team by double yesterday I stand up double foot one in the gap that's what I was thinking though I knew you had the double and a homer yesterday off the stretch Amonson steps off the rubber momentarily looks in for a sign there in Miller seven and twenty this season 354 Devils four runs batted in swagman drive down the left-field line that's gonna get in and go to the corner one run will square maybe two up Joe or so we'll hold Earhart off at third base sliding into second without a throw there is Miller who comes up with this fifth double of the season well you know early indications on this game both teams are seeing the ball well yeah there's not a there are a few clouds in the sky but they're not bothering these guys at all right now unfortunately for Georgia College they had solid balls that were hit but caught but everybody is really getting they're getting their reps in well today you know we've talked about a Friday night in the first game of the series and I know you talked about it the first weekend the Spartan strength is there pitching that's what Joe Russo has told us that this is he's never had a pitching staff this deep is talented with so many guys that could throw fast balls in the 90s a lot of velocity but Georgia College has been up to that yes they have teed off a little bit there's a high fly ball they should score a run we'll see center fielder Rangers over that's Maddox making the catch he throws back to second base as coming into stores Earhart the freshmen wanted to get his uniform dirty he slid into home even though there was no play at eight innings to go but he decided to take care of that issue still no one has something to do that's right so - nothing the score here in the bottom of the first nice sacrifice by Bragg there picks up another RBI his fourth of the year here comes Danny servin to the plate serving as the designated hitter today in the catcher I think in the first two days starter good to see Chris Gaffney getting into the lineup today he had a nice base hit yesterday yep it should drove in a run which was very helpful because the Spartans needed every run they could get yesterday and held on for the 5-4 win Gaffney comin off elbow surgery he's talking about that when he he comes to the plate the first pitch to serve it is a ball upstairs runner at second is Miller with one away here the bottom of the first Spartans jump out on top in this rubber game of the three-game series a curveball is upstairs two balls and no strikes so Chandler Amundsen who was very effective in his first two starts is struggling a bit and Jason eller is gonna come have a little conference no action surly but nothing going on in the Bobcat bullpen probably just want to calm him down yeah AMISOM has given up as I said just he had given up just one hit in his first four and a third innings but so far the Spartans have lit him up three straight hits to start the game albeit one was an infield but a good one yeah indirect it was to the wall right actually two infield hits as you can because the diving stop by the shortstop but the bunt hit is the one I move that both Jack and I were talking about that tomorrow it'll be a hit to the base of the wall if any one that's right in the box score it'll look big look like a line drive last year a misen I wanted to check his stats from a year ago he only pitched in four games he was Owen one with a four point six six six strikeouts in 9.2 innings he missed 2016 with an injury after he had registered it in the 2015 season it's a lot of time off as it takes checks the runner at second and now Anacin takes another look steps off the mound really didn't throw dami servant at the plate two balls no strikes on her trial while left-handed hitter is on deck fastball swung on and flied to center field Maddox has no trouble lining that one up and makes the catch for out number two spartans with three hits already if you look at what they've done in five games this year four of them have been double-digit hit games 12 14 11 7 and 10 on the year so the you know they're getting the hits but my point earlier was they just haven't bunch them up with three or four or five hit innings which were used to seeing from this tonight and that maybe play along with what we've been led to believe that this team's best is the pitching staff that the offense might not be they certainly don't have the same power they've had in years past as trial swings and misses one strike and nothing the cap to the Spartans right fielder they again pitching will lead them as far as they're gonna go but you know we've seen from Bragg they do have some pop in the lineup but they don't have maybe five or six guys capable of hitting the ball out of that last year or for a number of years pitchers far outside one on one the count mentioned yesterday we had talked to Jose him and as before the game and he said I'm just getting tired of all these messages from people going what's wrong with the Spartans you're 2 and 2 he said you know what in 2006 we were 2 and 6 we want a national championship kind of a saying the old Aaron Rodgers line don't panic don't panic it's very early here's the pitch swung on and fouled back and out of play so now Emerson is ahead of the count one ball two strikes I'll leadoff hit by Smith got it started Earhart bunted beat it out for hit and on the third one Smith on the throwing error Darren Miller then brought a run home with a double shot down the left-field line and then Harrison Bragg's sacrifice fly and there's the Miss Connor krile strikes out the in the inning so three in a row retired after the first three men got hits it was two runs on three base hits one error and one man left on base we've played one here in Tampa the Spartans second in the nation leads the 16th ranked Bobcats of Georgia College to tonight let's give a big shout-out to dr. Sahlman and gasser in Florida orthopaedic Institute their sports medicine team keeps our players safe funds and provides athletic training services and medical care to UT the student-athletes and if you're thirsty grab a Pepsi it is the official Spartan soft drink might as well top it off with pizza some Pizza Hut so give them a call Oakley here in Tampa - 5-1 $33.99 you can get your pizza delivered to UT today getting ready to head to the second inning Kevin Pimentel Barton seemed to score early so far this year they're gonna put her in couple runs on the board in the first inning they did yesterday with Barry I've done it before this year it's been the middle innings where they've been a little quiet yeah they haven't had any of those 19 or 20 hit games yet in this season not yet that we have seen expect to see at some point along the way it's the only time they've actually been held down you said the seven hits and the two runs in that game that was the one time they've kind of had their offense stymie Georgia College in the opening night right in here this series [Music] again the pitch and get its job kept it at a three-run game and I believe that runs the score in the night two unearned yes Kevin Pimentel gave up a hit in the first inning and three pretty hard hit balls from the first three men in the order them until throws fastball in the 90s 92 93 he had an upper 90s fastball in high school Joe Russo was telling me that but then he broke his arm on a pitch and the velocity belt is only now starting to come back that fastball is up and away ball one to Nate's mom that's the time I've heard of that before you know where you're it's it's not really a natural motion throwing overhand yes with just throwing a pitch and breaking his arm that's really something fastball just missed the outside in order the natural motion is softball underhand yeah and if you think of it your arm hangs down and will just kind of rotate it doesn't like to be brought over the top jewel pitch is fouled back to the screen and then you add in trying to curve it hopefully Pimentel will have a nice season stay healthy he has a good slider he has a good feel for the change as well let's see with the two ball one strike pitches hit out to short Galia scoops it up throws across in time out number one there's small grounds from Galilee to Brack Gally's been solid at shortstop actually the up the middle has been real good for the Spartans this year and that was the other thing Joe said is we'll go as far as pitching goes but he said our defense should be and has been solid to this point yeah that's good I think I look before the game and I think they've had five errors in the first five games total I don't know if you have those numbers anything but now but I think hey you know if you're getting giving up an error game a fastball in for a strike you know on average that's not the worst in the world yes but again they've been pretty solid and one of those errors came yesterday there a Friday night and a pickoff pickoff ya throwing around the picture yeah not really a fielding error swung on I missed it the fastball and Garrett green is in the hole two strikes of nothing the smallest batting 438 coming into this game so is Garrett green they're both 7 for 16 this year it's the one page I didn't print errors that takes it that deep I'm sorry I didn't mean to bring up something you get my people on this and they failed this okay bye there have been a couple error-free games but there were couple games I think ahead to Aires the o2 pitch outside trying to get him to go after Garrett green said not Green has been putting the bat on the ball in the first five games of the Bobcats season no walks one strikeout putting the ball in play one two pitch here's a ground ball the third scooped up by Miller he throws across in time to ground outs here to start the second two up two down and here comes the designated hitter Brendan Halloran you know the error yesterday now that I see it here is Miller had a line shot to third base toward the line and he leaped up ball hit his mitt came down and by the time he threw it to first they had beat it out so they gave him an error for dropping the line drive which I thought was a great that he didn't let it get into the outfield rate effort because it kept a runner from moving too far but he did get charged with an error swing and a high fly ball into short left centerfield left fielder makes the call here and that's Smith and he settles under Morano out from under his nap I love Willie Mays it back in the day but he makes the catch for routinely and we've played an inning and a half no runs no hits no errors nobody left a 1-2-3 inning for Kevin Pimentel we've played it inning and a half it's Tampa to George's College nothing and the Courtyard by Marriott is simply refreshing located at 3805 West Cypress right here in Tampa an official host hotel at the University of Tampa athletics Jersey Mike's we are offer a suburb of with the nearest location at 21-21 West Kennedy not far from here Jersey Mike's is a suburb of actually I've gone back to check the Spartans had four errors in their first 45 games so that's that's less than one per game yeah and they did not have one in the season series season open I should say his Bentley stay has one error in Game two of that series they did not have an error in Game three and then just one in each of last year so it's actually three streams three years so they have the fielding something good and when you think about it you know the Miller's error yesterday as I said he stopped a ball from going all the way to the corner right runners still got on first base but prevented a double yeah so and then the other one again from the pitcher so maybe only one out-and-out error perhaps so yeah good defense these typical error ground ball bobbled or something like that or we head to the bottom half of inning number two camp on top two to nothing you just joined us I'm Scotland Jack I kiss alongside his daughter Devon is even in the booth with us today offering insightful commentary just for me oh I thought she was coming for the fries and the cheese because she is that too I would do that as well many times I long for the cheeseburgers and fries here comes the first pitch a breaking ball off the plate to Chris Gaffney good to see Chris getting some playing time starting roll coming back from elbow surgery from the fall F attached in first right so still in kind of a rehab status yeah he missed all of fall you know after that surgery and there's a swing and a fly ball into right field coming in the right fielder camps under that's what Mac he makes the catch for out number one four in a row retired down by Amazon yeah Gaffney as you say just coming back you'll probably find his way back into the lineup but I know we're so is trying to play maybe just once per weekend although we did it yesterday yeah but as far as being out of the field and catching servant has been behind the plate and Maynard has also been behind the plate Nick got Ringo stands in [Music] and he takes a fastball for a strike Amazon misses with the second pitch off the plate he works rather quickly he does that's good that's right especially on getaway day swags get a mess fringo couldn't catch that one and it's a one-ball two-strike count Trinko batting 286 he has a double and a home run check that just a duck an RBI he has there's a pitch off the plate two balls two strikes no homers one run batted in he's walked a couple times and fanned a couple times so far in the first five games - - fish is upstairs ball three girl laid off it count is full here's Amazon's pitch swung got a line drive left-field is gonna get down it does on one hop it's played by small he hurries it into the infield and having to hold it first after making a big turn was nicked a train go he has hit the ball well this year when KC was with us yesterday the psyche the problem is he's hitting it right actually when Chris Williams came in talked to us yesterday former pitcher here he said he's just hitting him right at people right now and Wow while Chris was here to tringle blind one to centerfield really for an out for an out yeah he rests his case the fat boy here comes Brandon gali number nine hitter in the order thinking bunt golly there goes the runner to ground ball to short the throw will be the first and the hit-and-run avoids the DoublePlay yes had no choice but to go to first yeah Gentry picked up the ball and he knew because the Siringo had a huge jump that he had no play at second base and it wasn't even hit that sharply so he had to go to first so two away runner in scoring position here Steven Smith the hitter on the smartness you mentioned three for four yesterday he's now he's 12 for 24 I believe that makes him an even 500 on the year even my public school education says that off the stretches swinging the ground ball the first scooped up over there by Davis and he races to the bag to beat Smith and the inning is over no runs a hit no errors one man left on base we played to here in Tampa it's the Spartans to the Bobcats of Georgia College nothing and clean AIDS is a new cafe located at 38:38 Neptune Avenue it's open until 7:00 not just a diet it's a life style featuring healthy he's getting a little bottled water here before we start the top of the third ray parish is the base umpire and the lover and parish they do appreciate probably more than anybody else the pitchers working in prom fashion very clever behind the plate this is yeah let's keep this going three different and different comparing cruises this weekend it's really I think we've gotten used to seeing them hang around for the serious especially conference play when there's level headers and I think that's what Saturday's they just stay obviously would be silly to bring another crew in we just saw Chris Gaffney throw the ball when well over these guys and the Trinko couldn't even catch it he threw his glove at hopefully yeah that's only in the between innings for shines' you do that because you know the other teams out is watching and we can run on him yeah you're setting him up for failure you're totally setting him on the other it's the plan here's John Davis stepping in for the Bobcats I think Mitch Williams used to in his want warm-ups would throw it all the way to the backstop just so people wouldn't dig in when they actually came to the plate fastball up and in that's what he said to reporters maybe I think it was just he was just the wild thing that's all he was he had a medical marketing firm one o pitch who took something off at a swing and a miss Davis couldn't be elected it's one-to-one the can count Mitch Williams it's for the Phillies in the World Series he was a guy who gave up the homerun to Joe Carter me adam-11 pitch swung on fouled out of play 1 & 2 that gives us up walks off to win the series right this wasn't a minute game no it was the series it was a sear that's only happened twice it was around SK yeah 30 years apart I covered Mitch Williams in high school I think that West Lynn I saw him pitch a one-hitter Wow he struck out a bunch in that game too and he walked a bunch of that one to fit ground ball out to gallon comes in picks it up the toss across dragged in time one away here in the top of the third third that's six straight retired you know I have heard of high school pitchers especially who have thrown no-hitters who walked about four guys and then picked them all off now they face the regulation on a batter right even though they walked four that happens cassius young coming to the play one home run and a team-high six runs batted in despite being the number nine hitter this freshman stands in and here's the pitch fastball upstairs I don't know if you have access to it he's not hitting a lot so I'm wondering if he didn't hit a three-run homer maybe a Grand Slam I think he did I think it was a three-run homer he only has three hits all season that has six RBI and he has one homer yeah I think it was a three-run shot if I remember correctly he swings a good bat though yep and he is a big kid he's out of Atlanta Georgia six to one ninety out of Marist high school we do appreciate those of you watching who are Georgia College fans we'll try to keep it fair here we do our best all we are paid by Tampa and there's a line shot in the left-field that's gonna get it down in front of Smith picking it up on a hop he relays it into the infield and it's a one-out single for Cassius young second hit for the Bobcats today we will call it as we see it we won't be oh you're not really that's so bad that Tampa didn't get a caller so don't do that we really don't really don't but as you say they do write the check we want Tampa the win it makes our life easier because we have to hang around these people yeah Joey shows a lot nicer to be around if they win but it's a pleasure to have you with us today whether you're a Spartans fan or a Bobcats fan they're just like deep to baseball this is hey it's winter baseball you can't beat a ground ball out to second scooped up they get the force and the backend of it as well little four six three Earhart's to galle the rag and the inning has come to an end so sort of a 1 2 3 inning and nobody left on base we played two and a half here in tap on an 80 degree day beautiful day here in Central Florida and the Spartans have a 2 nothing lead over Georgia College and dpo delivers cheesy happiness on and around college campuses including UT Prez calzones wings and breadsticks order online at DP'd Oh calm they are open late tropical smoothie cafe their menu boasts bold flavorful smoothies with a healthy appeal all made the order from the freshest ingredients our toasted wraps sandwiches flat breads and bowls are made freshest with quality meats and cheeses fresh produce flavorful sauces located downtown at 200 North Tampa just around the corner from UT well we didn't say it because it almost looked so routine but you know you're playing a freshman at second base and he started that double play and drew her Harvey Earhart will lead off here this inning we talked about it on Friday night with Joe Russo had mentioned that Earhart's dad had played here at the University of campus in the Hall of Fame he played either with or around the time the Tino Martinez was starring for the Spartans back in the day but he says I'll tell you what not many freshmen get to play immediately here iug but this kid he will that's just it he will he was the Hillsborough County high school player of the year out of Wharton High School in Tampa for years starter at shortstop and I mentioned Friday night and will say to get here those of you who didn't hear that he said you know even though he is a shortstop by Nature they're putting them at second base to take a little the pressure on that you don't have to worry about being the glue that holds the whole infield the other Erhard takes a fastball up and in they're saying no pitch are they saying turn the music yeah that's what they're after the Empire that's the second time I noticed you did that earlier yeah this time they just forgot about the music and this the second time the umpire is signaled to knock it off I think the pitch did count although I'm not I didn't totally certain but I'm not sure see what he puts up here it says 100 or to know so I think that pitch did probably did Jeff because he didn't think to stop play either there's a swing and a fly ball deep left field going back back to the fence and making a catch right in front of the fence is small Wow you know we saw about two or three of those on Friday night where he went right back to the wall and made the catch and this was another one there are showing some power there yeah well when small made the catch right after he made the catch put the ball in his right hand he put his hand back and actually touched the wall so it was within a foot breeze and there there is a little breeze yeah it is blowing out to left yes here comes Darren Miller doubled in a run in the first he takes the breaking ball in for a strike Miller eight for 21 on the season now with five doubles team hi I don't think anybody else has two doubles this year check swing enough they say he went around so two strikes are nothing the captain Miller vanilla does strike out and we are correct he's had seven times he's gone down on strikes as he takes a fastball above his helmet for ball one one and two Harrison Bragg on deck stick around he might be worth the price of admission here there's a line drive down the line foul well-hit but while in front of that bitch was Darren Miller Miller five runs batted in on the year now after doubling in a run in the first I think that ball was way down in the corner nobody retrieved it so we're delaying play till one of the Spartans plays wait I was getting in a sprint yeah runs down to pick up the ball it was like a foot in fair territory and they don't want a ball laying out there no matter what I know one ball two strikes that's the count on Darren Miller as Amundsen brings it home and a fastball strike three call outside corner about letter high it was called a strike Miller caught looking here comes Harrison Bragg no other player has homered for the Spartans but Bragg has hit a couple he is strong and powerful 64 230 and he looks bigger than that to man he's just strong fastball in there for a strike a senior his first year here at the University of Tampa last year at Mississippi State he had three homers and had ten run batted in and part-time duty bad at 290 that division one program curveball upstairs one on one account based on his hometown which is the state of Washington he's traveled farther than anyone to become a Spartan yeah Northwest native yeah it's not used to sunshine an 80-degree weather swing and a Miss he was fooled on the change and Bragg is in the hole now one ball two strikes hit a sacrifice fly in the first homered yesterday his second bomb of the year swing-and-a-miss chased the fastball upstairs and a 1-2-3 inning a misen really has come back strong now retiring nine of the last 10 men in fact striking out three of those no runs no hits no errors and nobody left we have played three here in Tampa fast-moving game the Spartans lead the Bobcats of Georgia College by the score of 2 to nothing new Legacy production group is Tampa's premiere nightlife marketing company providing weekly parties and special events but Legacy production group don't think of them as just for the nighttime they also have planned charity and corporate events for pretty much any organization legacy production group is operated by Prowse UT alums and the Doubletree by Hilton Tampa Airport West Shore book a beautiful room or suite at our new hotel on Cypress just minutes from UT he's thinking more and more about that you've talked about the defense and now that eyes we actually looked at the numbers they having only three errors in the first five games with no more than one in any game right that is good do you have one though one of the errors constant and cost them a win yeah or a potential that the win is the throwing error led to an unearned run and they lost 3-2 - we talked about that a lot house yeah things change you know if that wasn't I thought that was a third run though okay let me go back to my score but yes I keep a score cool no that was actually earlier in the game thanks thing it was their second it for them you know he's very likely I mean very likely could have scored anyway because he was at first and the next guy doubled right would have been second and third with one out right it changes the whole game so the next guy grounded out for the final out of the inning as it turned out because made small who had doubled was caught stealing right after that so but he wouldn't have tried to steal right with a man on third base so the whole situation changed who knows they might have singled home those two resume but have been our internet boy some reason I thought it was later in the game yeah first pitch in there for a strike to Logan Maddox hit a line drive single to Center his first time his eighth hit of the Year fastball outside and a little low I think one on one it's a two three and four hitters of this inning Maddox Womack and Purcell I'm Scotland Jack Eichel alongside glad you're with us swangin a drive into deep right-center field and I don't know if anybody's gonna get they're going back back back diving catch no no this on the ground and Maddox is gonna pull into second with a double great effort by the Treeing go diving to try to make the catch it was right between he and krile I worried for a time about a collision right file bailed out in a good way he heard that two tringle want it and give it a shot and the Trin go diving thought it stayed in the glove but all sudden we saw it rolling heck of an effort right at Ringo who is a natural infielder who has been converted to centerfield because of the injury to Richie Rivera in fact that was one of the interesting stories Joey told me said that you know he was probably in the mix that Ringo to to earn playing time they're hard but at second base but he said to the coach you need an outfielder I can help you I play the outfield up until my freshman year in high school that's a long time ago eighth grade but they gave him a tryout and he did well and he's played well out there so the bottom line is Nick that Ringo's doing a good job in center and almost made a miraculous catch out there one ball no strikes to the counter and a swing and a ground ball to second Earhart scoops it up and will throw over to bragging time moving on to third is Logan Maddox with now with one away he is 90 feet away from getting the bobcats on the board a good thing about playing centerfield even though you're the captain of the outfielders you get to call plays one as you see him is you're not gonna get the slice or the hook as much you're gonna see a true ball so it does make it a little bit easier to be a centerfielder if you're not experienced out there obviously you look at guys in centerfield though they have to have speed that's that's one thing that Ringo has had a really good fall they were looking to find a way to get him on the field now timeouts being called by Gabby wants to go out and talk to his pitcher this is not necessarily about what pitch do you want to throw because the pitches are called by Sam Militello the pitching coach and as I gather Kathy comes back now Brandon Purcell the cleanup man at the plate until there was a nice strike right there the Mattel does not have a strike out yet today in his first game he struck out five and four innings we're in the fourth year he does not have one I think you can look at the competition though yes there's a swing of the tap to the pitcher they've got the runner hung up between third and home he threw it that way now they come to gap knee and he says he got it okay he says he got him I'm not so sure I thought I don't know I thought I saw a lot of little room between Gaffney's tags not an argument over an ounce oh so it'll go as a fielder's choice for sell reaching and they do get him out score 1 5 2 as he's caught trying to score if the ball got by him until there's no question to run scores with it and that's what he was thinking and credit to Pimentel he leaped high in the air to go of it and once he had that the runner Maddox was dead to rights you know your orphans come right at the rudder and then throw it and that's kind of what he did the fastball is off the plate ball whine about the only thing they did wrong there is I think Pimentel threw it too soon yeah threw it too soon it wasn't closer yeah yeah yeah because he threw it and there was a long way they had to make a good strong throw and Gaffney had to make a tough tag so it wasn't routine runner going he'll steal second standing up and as the ball gets away from Gaffney stolen base for Purcell he's now three for three this year that was the easiest one he's had left-handed matter Nate small stand again grounded to short his first time he has a runner now in scoring position where a base hit would bring home a run and cut the two-run deficit in half small batting 438 coming into the game stepping off the mound now women tell - oh pitch swung on and popped up back and out of play two balls one strike two men out for sell at second base leadoff double by Maddox groundout by Womack and then the fielder's choice by Purcell as he got hit it back to the pitcher and Maddox got caught in a rundown didn't last too long the rundown won 5-2 pitcher after the third baseman to the catcher - one pitch fouled back and out of flight and again what you prefer to have is the runner running back towards third rather than back towards coming to heading as if he gets if he beats the tag he scores yeah you don't want them advancing if at all possible so I don't think that was textbook at worse you want him back where he started yeah just a little bit quick on the throw got the desired result and there wasn't much of an argument so obviously the umpire right there had a maybe he'd heard him jack maybe swiped and heard that connection oh there's a long drive down the right-field line giving chase and going into the corner and all the way to the Wallace foul it's out of play as running out of room was krile he got all the way into foul territory and not a lot of room down there took about two steps and ran into the wall that goes all the way extends from home plate basically all the way down the line if that wasn't there he might have had a play after he was about a step away from him but he ran pretty hard into the fence he's okay but he couldn't make the catch and so it's just a long foul 2 & 2 the count the small golf that thing and I thought it had a chance if it stayed fair two balls two strikes on our second two men out Nate small stands in Pimentel stretch fish swung on foul back to the screen hit off the base of the wall the concrete walled and rolls all the way back out to FEM and tell him I'm pretty sure they'll get that ball out of play probably got a big scratch on it yes they did yes they did the I'm fired already given a new ball to Gaffney put it back in his bag though must be fine it's not like the major leagues where you have any little problem that might be thrown away hey it's Division two baseball even Casey Loggins set it at the single a level there's always new baseballs nice the count still 2 & 2 today small runner at second is Purcell here comes the pitch and it's way high and outside Gaffney saved a wild pitch they're showing some athleticism to do so you know one of the main reasons they do retire baseball's when they get scuffed up is a major league pitcher do you give him some blemishes on a baseball he can make that thing do you can make it dance it can do take a worse curve and you would normally get so it's not like the ball is damaged and you just its ugly or something like that just trying to level the playing field right don't give that pitcher any more of an advantage than he has he knows what he's gonna throw the batter doesn't three to the count here it comes swung on a drive deep right field but in his tracks is trial and he makes the catch that ball was hit hard another line drive out to the outfield Pimentel both dodges a bullet there was a double and a stolen base in the inning but no run scoring so no runs a hit no errors and one man left on base threw three and a half here in Tampa the Spartans second ranked in the nation and Division baseball to 16th ranked Georgia College nothing and the outpost is located on the edge of campus on Kennedy the outpost offers an affordable classic menu if you're a royal Tampa Spartan fan come post up at the outpost in sale court waterfront Suites in Tampa campus only all waterfront all suite Resort located on beautiful Rocky Point island just minutes from UT and for generations Krispy Kreme has been serving delicious donuts and coffee visit our nearest Krispy Kreme on West Kennedy Krispy Kreme serving hot donuts right now we see some of the marketing people out there playing playing different board games of sorts on a white board yeah for some of the fans reminds me that at a recent Trailblazers game in Portland and I didn't watch the video so I all I know is it has gone viral there was a video of one of the buildings one of the timeout segments where they had two people come from the stands and play tic-tac-toe okay oh I saw that did you see it that maybe could even tell me what happens but it's gone viral because I they called it the worst game intact however as I guess people they had chances to win and just they didn't understand the concept of tic-tac-toe there's two women and what you had there at each end of the court okay if you make a basket 1 hat X is one handles if you make a basket you grab your X and go put it on the board yeah you make the old few magic video somewhere well the person put two O's in a row and then the other person got an X and put the X in a corner not to block the O's so when the other person got the o ran down there and put it somewhere else and didn't understand three in a row when I'm say got to exit to X's to O's but they didn't understand you need that person's trying to help them yeah yeah I know the game ops guy I know I know who he is and he's probably really frustrated that first pitch by the way the dandy served and his a ball that was fouled up people are groaning no they must have fought the more you had on the board whoever could make Damascus first wouldn't have the most pieces on the court if there's on board yeah but three in a row would actually have given you the win and who does not know tic-tac-toe yes it was one hell one strike pitch fouled back and out of play yeah mmm Trail Blazers fans with the worst game of tic-tac-toe in history and it went viral big-time you'll find it on YouTube or whatever yes just google it was funny here comes the pitch swung on at a hive up into short left-field it might be and called off is the shortstop small says I got it and Gentry finally dived out of the way so it goes as a fly to left although was almost basically just a pop up when they say bail out when the fielder calls it he bailed out he did just don't go around and that's the right play I've seen a collision like that and it was very serious it was it's not what you want to have happen one guy looking up running backwards running with his back to the infield brother not paying attention to that incoming left fielder and the scariest things I've ever seen there's a ground ball it is a fair ball picked up and throw to the pitchers in time Davis made a nice play behind the bag just in fair territory a misen covered and he flipped in the ball in time had a little pitcher's duel going on here yeah certainly Emison who gave up three consecutive hits to start the game he's been tough ever since he's only allowed one hit since that time only one baserunner since that time he's retired 11 of the last 12 and here comes Chris Gaffney who flied to right his first time up fastball away ball one no way I thought the tone was set in the first inning when George Howard singled to start the game and then hit a line shot to Center in I'm like wow these guys are on it and Tampa comes up with three straight hits yeah look like we bring in a load best and it's they've kind of gone dormant since then they're hibernating yeah pitch off the plate so Gaffney's a hit two balls no strikes swaying the miss not Gabby's best swing is he's trying to collect himself going a religion that many wack Jaffe hasn't had a lot of appearances he's only been to the plate four times this year has one hit it was that pinch-hit single yesterday check swing is a strike nonetheless so the count now even at two and two here comes the pitch swing and tap foul down the third base line out of play nice job by Chris to adjust to that off-speed pitch still got the wrists around a little too quickly well I'll tell you what they have really supple dama stand down since that meeting at the mound he has been almost perfect out there and a curveball in for a strike yeah he thought it might have been outsider you can hurt you with that one though but it's another strikeout and the second called strikeout one two three four four strikeouts here in the game so another 1-2-3 inning the second in a row and Jamison definitely has found his groove he's got his groove on we're through four here it's Tampa two runs three hits no errors and Georgia College no runs three hits one error you're watching it all here on campus partners TV at Tempest partners comm and also on the Sunshine State Conference digital network some are glad everybody gets a chance to watch games for free these days I know it used to be a pay site but we're thrilled that it's a freebie for you yeah University Dining Services by Sodexo allows you to choose from 27 dining stations they serve breakfast lunch and dinner late night and snacks the official concessionaire of UT athletics is Sodexo campus dining visit the UT website and check Dining Services for variety and hours and Florida orthopedic Urgent Care give it up to the Spartan team of physicians a Florida orthopaedic Institute for it is largest orthopedic group that's dr. Salman and gasser and their sports medicine team they keep our players active and safely on and off the field with their ortho Urgent Care just minutes away in South Tampa so we head to the top half of inning number five here in Tampa 80 degree day beautiful sunshine a few clouds as you can see out beyond the center-field area that is downtown Tampa by the way if you're looking out there and wondering I wonder if that's Tampa yes it is it is downtown one of the beautiful skylines you'll find anywhere in Division two baseball Spartans with a nice Stadium here they've really got a nice program under Joe where so parties have won seven national championships the most recent in 2015 which happened to be my first year calling Tampa baseball with Jack I a lot of season that was they've had some outstanding years under Joe we're so he's done a great job with this whole program so we head to the fifth inning now it's green holler and Davis the 6 7 and 8 hitters and there's a high drive deep left field way back going back to the wall and making the catch just in front of the fences Smith another shot that I thought had a chance when it was first hit got a high and deep and Smith kept running got back he was probably one or two steps in front of the wall when he made the catch but he was still on the run so a nice play out there by Stephen Smith who's not only these Parton's best hitter at this point of the season but certainly he's done a nice job defensively as well here's the designated hitter Brandon holler holler was he's exactly 500 on the season he was three for five at the plate coming into the game he flew to left his last time up his first time up of the game swinging a ground ball towards second it takes a funny hop but a nice play by the freshman there Hart throws to Bragg in time he had to stay with it he ran a long way he was playing him more up the middle and that ball was pulled in the hole between first and second by Haller and a nice play by the converted shortstop John Davis comes up now with two quick outs here in the top of the fifth Davis batting 333 now this season for 412 no extra-base hits yet this year's driven in a couple of runs has not reached via the pass the free pass he struck out a couple of times he steps out because he felt that Emmental was taking a little too long to get started Hemet else pitched well swaying and a high pop foul out of play down the third base line much over these partners dugout on the left side I used to have you with us on this Sunday afternoon I know all the spring training camps open the pitchers and catchers report in three days at the Tampa Spartans gonna be playing the Phillies more on that in a while swinging a hard hit ball to short Galli picks it up on one hop and throws across pulled him off the bag but getting back down in time is brag so score at six to three and then that's four in a row retired and another nice job the second time in the game that him until has retired the side one two three no runs no hits no errors and nobody left on base Tampa scored two runs in the first three base hits they have not had a hit since then they have had one more hit since then they don't have it up on the scoreboard it's actually four hits the Santa has not the three that we see on the scoreboard so three runs on four hits for Tampa at this point but the first three smartest reach three of the base hit and here in the fifth inning it'll be the eight nine and one hitters next to string go Brandon galley and Steven Smith I'm wondering if they only rented this field for two hours yeah they're gonna get this the game done moving along I like it I'll get home and have time to do all my taxes yeah yeah that is gonna happen I mow the lawn yeah nice thing about the winter you mow the lawn about every three weeks yes a month exactly whereas during the summer with all those types of these ranges that you get two or three times a week and it's it's no fun with that humidity but the winners are wondering yes this is a winter wonderland here but a different kind than they have up in there isn't there's five weeks plus left of official winter I know that's that's crazy it's 80 degrees this week all week everyday it's about seven degrees above normal yeah it was just a normal day nobody's crying for us no no we love it here we love it here this time of year and the first pitch is a curveball into a strike in for a strike to nicked it Ringo singled to left field his first time up he's batting 333 now this is the time of year when your batting average can jump about 50 points with a hit that breaking ball just missed yeah I was batting 286 coming in and now he's 333 just after 1 segments 50-47 walking coach I'm hot hot I am let me fire the order just soaring the pitch swung on and fouled no I tasted a stay it's gonna be in foul territory and giving chase the right fielder catches up to it and Womack makes the grab he had to run over the bullpen down there nobody was warming up but that's not an easy catch now all of a sudden the elevation changes if you're not aware of it goes up 18 inches and change your eyes you know you're running and all of a sudden your eyes are bouncing around can the step wasn't quite where you thought it was Brenden Gally Branden gallery is just a couple of hits so far this year he's now 2 for 17 on the year but he's played flawlessly as short swing and a Miss strike one and again there was a momentary it's not DJ MC white today it is not No there's a breaking ball just off the plate Wonka the musical is for when you walk up yeah it's not madding music good point yeah drive base hit up the middle so Galle might have heard me say he only had two hits all year he widen that one into centerfield nice nice job he's average may have soared well I'm saying it probably did so a man aboard would one out that's the first hit now for the Spartans since the second when deterring go at sing you'd retired nine straight before that face hit fight galley here's Steven Smith left-handed batter there in look thinking he's gonna but I'm not so sure throw to first runner dives back in galley one out maybe not yeah galleys not tried the steel on this season no outs more than likely there's one out they did have a situation earlier where they started a runner and avoided a a double play on a ground ball that would have likely been a double play ball six for three but got him moving along nicely here comes the pitch curveball in there oh it was not called a strike it looks really good from my perspective Ron blow must have been because it was over the plate so Smith stands in throw to first diving back safely as Gally Smith won 4-2 two days got an infield hit in the first grounded to first in the second that infield hit was basically a nice shot there's a good little nubber awkward short this is gonna be a tough play Smith might beat adapt there's the throw it's too late he beat it out I didn't feel hit again Wow the last time the first time you got an infield hit it to the shortstop if the shortstop made a diving stop right up with it but had no this time he just kind of hit a little nubber out there swinging bunt yeah he had the advantage there being a left-handed hitter so he got a you know two-step move on him trip to the mound coming up this is not coach eller Gentry by the way she meant seemed charging and made the nice plus wasn't much he could do he did everything bang-bang but just took him a long time to get to the ball because the ball wasn't moving much you know I don't have in the roster and I did not let me grab the program here the number I wonder double check here because they don't have the numbers of the managers and the assistant coaches so I'm wondering I believe that as Jason eller that came out I thought he was 15 but I'm not sure because the pitching coach I think maybe came out back in the first okay I think Jason coaches third base okay I stand corrected think that I'm not sure but I think they were talking about strategy there so I would think that would have been eller first pitch coming in to Earhart is a breaking ball misses ball one looks like we do have some action in there voting now 44 and Logan Hicks that's who's warming up down there one oak bitch who took something off and Earhart chased after he swung through and missed one ball one strike well whether or not that was Jason Ella will tell you that elders in his second year and they went 35 and 15 last year very very nice job 16 and 8 in the Peach Belt Conference pitch is a fastball high two balls one strike to Earhart who is 1 for 2 today Bobcats are ranked 16th in one poll this week 22nd in another poll the Spartans are number two the coaches rankings what did you say yesterday their Friday number five I think in one of the other polls yeah there there's like three polls that do college baseball and you go with the one you like best because they had Delta State in number one and two of them and ninth in another one right curveball in first right had the Spartans two two and six they had Georgia College 1622 and unranked you pick the one you like them Bobcats are 16 those Spartans are 2 that's that's what we're saying two balls two strikes the count to Earhart one away runners at first and second here's the pitch swung on lined into right centerfield that's going to get down for a base hit picking it up on one half as Womack they're gonna hold the runner at third so the bases are gonna be loaded back to back to back singles have rid of them for Darren Miller Galli had to wait between second and third to make sure that ball got down if you'd have known it was going to get down like we did we had a better angle a discord he wouldn't have stopped Darius Barton's lead three nothing they threatened to improve that dramatically here bases loaded and nobody out there one one man out I should say but the thing that's interesting is the thing I love about baseball jack is the Spartans are one swing away from four more runs from rustling and six nothing or from a bobcat perspective a 6-4-3 double play gets you out of the inning yes I love baseball you were right it was Jason eller that came out is number nine I see all right there's a swing and a miss so Jason eller is number nine you've located that I did you have the intern and they had the intern look it up okay I'm gonna pay the intern extra for a Sunday research but we could have supposed to be the day off yeah but they are told to be on notice yes all right here's the pitch swung on hit deep to right field turning the wrong way initially now getting back hooking the catch was the right fielder Womack it's gonna bring one run in on a long sacrifice fly but that was a ballet in right field forty sixty on that one and then came back he looked left then pivot it to the right rotated right and then noticed it was still on the left and had to make a catch about an ankle high and then had to go down for it you know what he made a heck of a good catch though that could have been a lot of trouble if you get style points for a catch he does not scored highly have you just stand there and catch it don't anybody can you make that catch but that ball was hit on the line right at and that's one of those that they always say so tough to judge and we saw it there well here's Harrison Bragg with runners at the corners two outs it's a three nothing game he swings and misses and the pitch outside Harrison was anxious there to add to the total the only Spartan with a home run this year and he has to 3-nothing spartans here's the pitch fastball up and away this might be Amazon's last inning of work because suddenly you give up three consecutive hits in the first then just a single hit in the second now three straight hits two back-to-back back-to-back hitters in the fifth a sacrifice fly brought in one run there's a fastball inside to brag 2 & 1 the count that's a hitter's count and you know Bragg is anxious he is a guy who could break it wide open here the pitch swung on is up base hit that'll bring in Iran coming home scoring easily as Steven Smith and at second base now is their heart on the RBI hit by Bragg he's driven in a couple of runs today a line shot single here makes it four to nothing good piece of hitting there hit it in the hole he's shown that he's capable of doing that he's not just an HR or nothing player showed some wheels last one massive game yesterday hitting a ball down the left-field line and just headed to second and got in there standing up so the catcher the cell walks out to the mound I think we're gonna have the pitching change so we'll get the new picture here everything in just a moment as we see the decision is about to be made here and the right there's a right-hander warming up it had been number 44 loaves in the Hicks warming up and we'll see if it is indeed the flow to the Hicks stuff aside here in Tampa for just a moment two outs here in the four in the fifth and it is for nothing Tampa on top no no it's mr. phonology you now serving up scrumptious empanadas in convenient Tampa Bay locations mr. empanada lightful e delicious [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] so Logan Hicks is the new pitcher for the Bobcats it will be his second appearance of the season he's pitched one inning did not allow a hit for a run he has struck out one has not walked anybody who so Logan Hicks coming into the game a right-hander redshirt junior right-handed thrower he's a big fella 6 5 259 pounds we went to Kennesaw University most recently before joining the Bobcats and he's on the throne in for a misen and the first man if he'll face is the designated hitter Danny servant runners at first and second with two away here in the bottom of the fifth it's for nothing fastball in first strike servant Oh for two is flied to Center flied to left Scotland Jack hike with you I hope you're enjoying it on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon here in Tampa or Super Sunday Sunday oh yeah it's a gorgeous day fastball way outside that time serve and watch this sail away four runs eight hits no errors for Tampa no runs three hits one error for the Bobcats picks into the game pitching to serve honor cry lefty is on deck the right-hander Hicks brings it home swung on tapped foul we're getting to that time of year the stove birds have been here since November or December but we're getting to that time of year now where it's going to be the one of the Primo spring break destinations yeah that's coming up and I mentioned that the pitchers and catchers report in three days now as to the Florida spring training camps yeah we don't have the game against the Phillies in Clearwater before too long one ball two strikes the count if you like to get tickets to that game which is February 22nd a Thursday afternoon at freshers spectrum Field in Clearwater will tell you how to do that and help the Spartans maybe right after this pitch here comes the one and two big curve ball did not curve gravity did make it curve back to her all the way if you want to go to that game you can go to the Clearwater threshers website you can go to phillies.com or tampa spartans calm so you go to Tampa Spartans calm click on the schedule and then look for that game and click on order tickets put in the code Spartans and some of the proceeds go to the Spartans athletic department there'll be a banner ad this week as well as partners calm here's the pitch way outside fastball Purcell shows some agility to catch it and save a wild pitch so now it says three balls two strikes on the scoreboard so we'll see now if he can fix can get servant or a servant will win this battle Spartans have added to here in the bottom of the fifth they scored two in the first as well it's for nothing Hix brings it home swung on line drive into my field rounding third and coming home as Earhart he'll score without a play and the throw goes into second base all right had to hold up because he almost got hit by the line drive huh well what a nice hit by serving driving in a run Earhart had to do so some football moves there because he had to stop and avoid the ball from being hit and then Gentry at shortstop had to wait because he was coming up on Earhart and then when Earhart got to third the third baseman had moved over thinking Earhart was trying to steal so he had a hot pot of the third baseman's way so he was doing some jookin and dive in there it was an obstacle course yeah in the end it's a run for the Spartans and now they lead it 5-2 nothing Spartans have had what three one-run games this year I'm not mistaken what and they're one and two in those game yes I think lost evently an extra seven to six lost this game Friday night three two two three two two and yesterday a win 5-4 yeah one and two and one run games this one at this moment not a one round game so Hicks now will try to get Connor krile here comes the pitch swung on and fouled into the dugout yeah that was something Nick the Trinko was standing at the end of the dugout he literally had to jump over the ball as it sailed into the dugout and announced into the deck there is a screen in front of the dugout but that one found it there's got to be a way to get out of the dugout and that found them that's five down the hole no balls one strike to connor krile fastball in the dirt gets back to the screen and here comes a run Harrison Bragg jogs in and just like that it's six to nothing and down the second base goes serving as well on the wild fish so finally the Spartans have put together a big inning big hits and now they get the advantage there from the wild pitch a great credit for that event that Danny serve and they ended up getting the count full after falling behind early and then he got that line drive base hit into left field to bring in a run keep the inning alive and Connor krai lat the plate the wild pitch by Hicks there's a fastball hi you know it doesn't look to heaven I mean right so the book is actually closed now on Amazon he is gives up six runs you've given up only one hit in four innings in his first two appearances of the season both relief stints this start started that by giving up three consecutive hits to infield hits and then a double to left by Darren Miller that drove in a couple of runs or drove in a run and then Harrison braggy the sacrifice fly but Emerson really then got command and just only allowed one base runner in the second third and fourth innings the fifth though has been a problem as he gave up a one-out base hit by Gally pitch was ball 3 it's 3 and 1/2 krile base hit by a galley a base hit an infield hit by Steven Smith and then the base hit by Earhart a sacrifice fly by Miller scored a run base hit by Bragg wild pitches scored a run face if I serve in its stored around me it's been a nice ending four runs in the inning it's six nothing off the stretch brings it home it hit him yeah fastball got him in the in the leg he definitely does not have command at the moment Perry Keith warming up in the bullpen number 29 a right-handed pitcher from what grains in Georgia you may get to call sooner than later logan hicks and maybe sooner yes Logan Hicks has not gotten the job done that was anticipated or expected or hoped for at the very least he does not retire a batter this is only the third batter he's faced but we'll have a pitching change and we will come back with more here in Tampa you're watching it all on campus partners TV [Applause] the new pitcher is Perry Keith Jack mentioned he's a Richard jr. 511 175 pounds out of LaGrange Georgia I went to Gordon College for a time before becoming a bobcat Georgia College having a tough fifth inning here as the Spartans have broke it open here with four runs and Hicks struggled in his outing as he tried to slam the door on this pardons and couldn't get her done he's hit by servants brought home a run and cry out with a hit by pitch so Keith comes into the game this will be Keith's second game of the season his first outing he went two and a third innings gave up four hits two runs and did not walk anybody he struck out one and he did allow home run the first man to face him here will be Chris Gaffney over to was called out on strikes last inning flied to right back in the second well here's his chance get a big hit keep the rally going Gaffney the ninth man to bat in the inning for Tampa as Jack said finally the Spartans have put together a beginning Keith works off the stretch runners at first and second that's serving at second crab at first in a swaying in a Miss by Gaffney Sidewinder there they have a couple on their staff to do that they come these submarines even doesn't hop down below that yeah I've almost fouled back its two strikes of nothing on Gaffney as a hitter you have to readjust your eyes where's that ball coming from I've always liked that when the pitchers do I know you know a lot of coaches back in the day at least would discourage pitchers from trying to do that yeah here it comes it's outside KC Scoggins mentioned yesterday he liked it when it was a right-handed pitcher throwing that he being a lefty because he said the ball came into him yeah lefties he he and I both agreed for both lefties that we didn't like that because it looked like they were throwing at you oh yeah cuz they were coming from way on the side he said a curve ball acts like a frisbee it doesn't drop it kind of sales in an interesting one to pitch you want off that one and Gaffey swung and missed so he's out on strikes in the inning has come to and in four runs five hits no errors there was a wild pitch with a lot of run to score and there were two men left on base so we have played five innings here in Tampa and the Spartans have ups their leads to six six nothing Spartans over the Bobcats of Georgia College at the Godfrey hotel formerly Bay Harbor is located at 7700 West Courtney Campbell causeway it's in Tampa offers a special rate to all UT supporters and guests the Godfrey hotel and cabanas on Courtney Campbell causeway and the firehouse at Firehouse Subs our subs are made the firefighter way serve steaming hot loaded with the finest fresh sliced meats and cheeses located at 26 17 West Kennedy Boulevard firehouse founded by firemen Scott Lynn along with Jack Hyken we're about to head to the 6th inning so to take you the rest of the way I'll turn it over to my broadcasting partner mr. Jack all right set me up for can I get a save 600 lead only if it gets close a lot of innings oh yeah I think they got to be within a few rounds okay well I guess you just want me to hold the lead just hold the lead don't even make it close let's just go six nothing and rest the way from a broadcaster standpoint who would like to I do have a honey-do list at home you do you mentioned earlier that you're gonna mow the lawn mine is a vacuum the house and I got a honeycomb this that starts with that I'm am I looking forward to that so let's get this game oh yeah you can go now no no I'm sure the little dust bunnies will hold until I get there all right Kevin Pimentel back on the mound in five innings of pitching he's throwing only 44 pitches so very efficient on the pitch count to this point and again only three hits allowed to I mean it really really a nice job for Pimentel first batter he faces is Cassius Jung the ninth hitter in the order face hit his first time up Spartans biggest biggest inning of the season four runs five hits last inning ball a little bit low on deck is Gentry followed by Maddox we've talked about this Georgia college team I mean they've shown the ability to hit and they've had the ability to score a lot and often popped up heading over second base coming in as to Tring go and he makes the catch you go back to their season opener against pain they scored in every ending and won 21 to nothing so let's take nothing for granted here sounds like a house of pain there yeah cows entry to the plate came into this series hitting I think about 400 and is dropped because the Spartans have kept the all-american in the all-american candidate in check they've really done a nice job he's over 2 today and there's a ball out to galley at Short and he's over 3 today this is the guy who was an all-american as a freshman last year hit for 41 which is the fourth highest batting average in all of Division two baseball he's he's now under 250 s came in today 5 of 20 so he's 5 of 23 on the air you know what it'll be up there before it's over he's as the Spartans have kept him in check and that's I think gonna be the key if they end up winning this series you've kept their leadoff man gentry who's just a has been a terrific Lehmann you've kept him off the base paths yep Maddox at the plate he on the other hand is three for three today and that one is going to head toward the wall cut off by the Trinko but Maddox is going to cruise into second slides in with the double his second straight double those guys had the hot bat so a two-out double will bring Womack to the plate Spartans get somebody up in the bullpen probably as my design more than anything and at ring go we did you know bottom line he he cut that ball off if he didn't get that that's probably a triple the animatics because it would have scooted by and gone all the way to the fence as a ground ball base hit that'll bring a run in and so Georgia College is on the board and cut the lead to 6 to 1 on the base hit by Womack appears to be number six Tyler Beck I'm throwing in the Spartan bullpen all the Georgia College fans are glad you took over jack all of a sudden I can't stop the Bob Gale I got the first two outs and I guess I got complacent took it for granted a real nice job of hitting there I mean Maddox the first guy who gets a double on a just hit a rope out there to Center hit it where he could get the extra base and then Womack immediately singles ransom holds it right through the hole again in a very nice job Brandon Purcell the catcher to the plate in the stretch and stepping out now back in and the pitch swinging abyss stretch again here he fires in the dirt block mike Gaffney RoMac not able to advance at all kept it in front of them ball outside two balls one strike Womack our Purcell at the plate Womack on first and the pitch shot out into left field Smith coming in quickly makes the running catch to end the inning so they do pick up a run on a couple hits they leave a runner but we've now played five and a half and it is Tampa six the Georgia College one master Subaru is your trusted Tampa Subaru dealer located at sixty 402 West Hillsborough Avenue at Mastro's Subaru our reputation rides with you and Embassy Suites Downtown right in the heart of downtown just a few blocks from campus come stay in luxury at the Embassy Suites Downtown 513 south forward Avenue in Tampa [Music] as we head to the bottom of the six the Spartans will send up into Trinko galley and Smith eight nine one Perry Keith back out for another inning it's the third of an inning stopping the smarten beginning at four runs Beck a little more active in his warm-up so that maybe all will see for Pimentel six solid innings [Music] Georgia College as picture up and throwing in there both in as well that's Kyle King a sophomore from Johns Creek Georgia the tring go to the plate he's got a base hit and he flied out to right field his last time up hit the ball solidly twice and make it three times there's a base hit in the gap chasing it down they're gonna hold him to a single no he's gonna go and he's down and safe all the way nicked it Ringo said I'm heading to second and he did Romek got there quickly but it was enough in the gap after a long run that de tringle saw it all happening in front of them and just kept motoring all the way and in with the double number nine hitter brandon galle singled and scored his last time up shows bunt pulls a back called strike Keith in the stretch ground ball right back to Keith the tryng go chased back chased back caught them in a run down between second and third they finally tagged him out and they do call them out heading to second toe off the play as gali he just was heads up and moved on the fielder's choice and then took the second base so an out runners still at second though it's a different runner trinkle got caught when it was Keith fielding his position well as a pitcher and to tringle was kind of caught in no man's land there Keith's tossing it over to the third baseman and they started them wheels in motion to get to Tring go as he slid into third there's one hid deep for Shepherd Steven Smith near the wall it's off the wall he is gonna head into second chiller so sending the runner in from halt from second base sliding in safely as Brandon galley and the Spartans get that run back and leads seven to one Gally had to wait as that ball hit at the base of the wall and he had to wait to see if Womack had a play on it then Joe Russo sent him in anyway and he scored ahead of the throw to make it at seven one Spartan lead - we're hard to the plate now he's got a 2 for 3 day both times has gotten on he has scored Heath fires Erhard looks at a strike one out a run in galleons second Earhart at the plate and hits one out into right field Rome at gives chase has it in his sights that makes the catch and tagging from second and scampering over to third standing up his Brandon galley Darren Miller to the plate now with two outs Spartans have recorded another double dip double-digit hitting day that's their fifth of six games this year they've reached double digits Miller with a double then struck out and now and then flew out sacrifice fly got an RBI last time first pitch and he pops it up out of play hitting atop our broadcast booth strike one to Darren Miller 90 feet away Brannon galley groundball heading out to third gentry boots it run will score and Miller is safe on the error Gentry tried to backhand it and bound it bounced off the hill with him it away from him far enough that it was not going to get it as he was going into the hole pitching coach coming out to talk they do have a pitcher warming up but they're bringing in all the infielders 8 1 now Spartans lead two runs this inning four runs last inning 2 runs back in the first and they are going to make the change so we will have another pitching change we'll get to the word on who it is we'll take a quick break and come back now it's mr. in phonology you now serving up scrumptious empanadas inconvenient [Music] [Music] this is the University of Tampa [Music] explore your dreams discover your talents get ready to invent innovate and feel leader this is the University of Tampa [Music] pitching change coming up for Georgia College and it is Kyle King coming in this will be his third appearance of the year two first two appearances the only through an inning gave up no hits but two runs walked one struck out two so Kyle King on the mound Harrison drag will be the first hitter he will face starting to push to across here in the sixth and take an 8 to 1 lead Bragg with a runner on first big cut big swing and a Miss Darren Miller on first and the pitch that ones outside for a ball they play Harrison bragged somewhat deeply they've heard about them and the pitch fouled off down the right-field line one ball two strikes outside two and two now with two out and the tutu just missed outside it'll be full count near and Miller will be off to the races here at first base there he goes to pitch ground ball up the middle that's going to be in for a basic Miller is going to head over to third and Harrison bragg with another hit runners now at the corners with two out and Danny's servin to the plate servant has hit the ball three times today but has only one hit to show for it his last time up mace hit and drove in a run otherwise he's flown to Center from popped up to the left and then he had a base hit as a chance to add some more runs in the dirt block by Purcell Spartans have played five games this year have not recorded any double digit scoring days they have now recorded a fifth double-digit hit today in six games there's one heading out to the gap it's going to get down that will bring in one run and brag to the third base runners at the corners again and it's now 9 1 Tampa as the hit parade continues we had mentioned one thing the Spartans hadn't done this year has come up with bunches of hits and innings they've taken care of that issue today nine runs 14 hits now finer krile to the place Crowl with a strikeout a groundout and a hit by pitches last time and a hit by pitch again hit in ankle that would be a chai a I don't know if I'll get that specific next time probably not just another HBP but back to back fortunately I think he wears a little guard around his ankle handing it over to Jose Jimenez and it will bring Chris Gaffney to the plate bases loaded good situation for Gaffney to come through here ninth man to bat in the inning Jack you said that last inning I did with Gaffney had the same situation yeah different result we'll see bases-loaded its brag servin trial third second first first pitch call strike they're really playing Gaffney to pull down the third base line the third baseman is almost on the line that that leaves a big hole between the shortstop in the anticipation and a curve inside would call the strike Chris looks back shakes his head a little bit said okay while you get that call when I'm catching they are guarding the line but if he gets it over the third baseman's head it could he could run for a couple days the pitch fouled off I'll show where so says that really after that elbow surgery Chris Gaffney's back actually a lot faster than he thought he would be now he's not you know playing him full-time maybe once per weekend but this is just to have him available at all it's kind of a surprise here this early popped up out of play still a no to count bases-loaded two outs bottom of the sixth three runs already in this inning in the dirt blocked by herself you might remember if you're a Spartans fan that Gaffey started out at North Carolina Wilmington but the last two years he's played at UT and he's played in 46 games in each of those two seasons he's been a valuable contributor and the o2 gaffney fouls it off he hit nine home runs last year that's a nice number he's got some pop we'd like to hit number one of this season right about now wouldn't he have me a big one yes it would one two pitch then to the right-center field that's gonna drop in for a hit two runs will score and a big hit by Chris Gaffney puts runners on the corners and the Spartans now lead 11 to one their first double digit scoring day as they have really broken this game open the last two innings with four in the fifth and now six and holding here in the sixth and Jayson eller make another pitching change coming up as Kyle King has struggled well the two relievers out of the bullpens you know the last couple innings Hicks and initially the first man out of the pen faced two men gave up a base hit and then hit the other guy and so he extended the rally Keith came in and did a nice job actually striking out Gaffney to end the inning last time around but this time here comes King into the inning and he doesn't get anybody out gave off a single single hit by pitch at another single two more runs coming in as Jack said this is the beginning biggest inning of the season he's linked together which broke last inning yeah it appears as if it's number 31 it's coming in to pitch four in the fifth five in the sixth yeah number 31 is not on the roster because it's 27 bucks if that would explain it 27 is Brooks Luther a right-handed pitcher and junior out of Dallas Georgia and numbers on Brooks as he pitched this year yes he has he has he's got a third of an inning gave up two hits two runs one of the runs was earned so limited appearances you know we talked about this fartin team maybe doesn't have the power but this is what we think this team is going to be made of this would be the ideal certainly this game would be the prototypical game where you get good solid pitching which is again as we've said many times is hopefully the best strength of this team but just lots of timely hitting and again good defense again no errors for the Spartans they've only had three in the first 5 and 2/3 games to this point so this is this would be good yeah I think Joe where'sa would take this oh yeah 10 Ron laid 15 hits Brooks Luther now on the mound will inherit runners at the corners while ago I was talking to have Joe or so and what a remarkable program he has here I mean this is his 18th year I think the program coming into the season 744 wins 217 losses 12 Sunshine State Conference titles 10 NCAA South Regional Championships and of course he has been part we mentioned they have won seven national championship he's won four as the head coach in 2006 and seven as well as 2013 and 2015 it wasn't a 2014 when they went 50 they had the best record before the nominal record and were 54 and 2 until the last two games at yeah the NC double-a College World Series in Cary North Carolina Nick the Train go to the plate actually not on the corners runners at first and second for the tringle is we add them at the corners but they're not sure runners are not at the corners or list of had the corners on our data monitor which I thought was I think there's a little-known rule if you have a 10 run lead and the 6th inning or later you have to send your brother Sawyer they were at the corners I had to move enough krile I thought moved to third on that base hit does what he did he did I said he will have runners at the corners off the hit maybe he missed the bagging just now went back in time a Mickey then I said Gaffney's hit yeah move the runners to the corners I heard that and I agreed with you so oh well it may not matter as there's two outs it doesn't matter but I'm sure if there were runners at the corners well maybe there was a pinch runner and he didn't know what your base he was supposed to go just to pick a base anyway I'm on that's behind an open one all right well it's a five run six hit inning for the Spartans since they leave one man on after all was said and done and we have now played seven or six full innings and it is Champa 11 Georgia College and one as the Spartans just pummeling away now nice to have a nice a nice run here for the Spartan so many close games a nice read the whole game if you will you don't want to take anything for granted there's still three at-bats coming for Georgia College but still with a 10 run lead you like to think you can hang on to that we do have some fine sponsors here of UT Athletics Walters pressbox to this Tampa favorite place to watch the big game and party the press box 222 South Dale Mabry in Tampa the barnes & noble campus bookstore has everything UT in one place located in the bond Center first floor open Monday through Saturday or you shop online at you Tampa dot V and college calm that's bein college B M is in Barnes & Noble so you Tampa dot be in college calm and the official chariot of the Spartans is Mark's first class coach if you need to charter a bus go online to March 1st class comm marches ma RTC in the first class spell it all out but all those words together and you got March 1st class calm and you have yourself a bus to the big game or wherever you want to go okay Tyler Beck coming in to pitch says Kevin Pimentel has done after six solid innings of pitching in doing a nice job with the bats to give the Spartans to lead Beck comes in with this will be his second appearance he's pitched one inning walked one and that was it got three outs about this time with this lead we've got to keep our eye on the fielders to see if any changes are made women tell obviously his longest outing of the season book is closed on him as you say five hits one run it was earned didn't walk any didn't strike out to me very nice solid outing had good defense behind him at a couple balls hit early that gave you the indication might be a shortened day yeah Kevin Pittman says two batters hung around a long time leaves with a ten run lead and it will be a pinch-hitter coming up here number 16 coming to the plate is Mike Warren he pinch-hit the other night is a senior from Atlanta Georgia warns first at-bat today is a base hit so before I can grab the sheet with his steps he's added to them he's on the base yeah and another pinch-hitter coming up here jack different roster Haiti going here the Cindy this is Tara sorter at Terez Miller I'm sorry if I butchered your name sir or as miller number 28 Miller's from McDonough Georgia a junior and he swings at the first pitch will offset out toward the Tring go calls off trial and makes the catch so apparently we're in the speed hitting and I think this is a third pinch-hitter I think this is slaughter from yesterday I remember him coming in slaughter I believe take that more interesting dozen college grants college he's the he's hit one home run this year remember that he's big player or in Stallings he's in the designated hitter slots so chances are he'll continue to designate a hit first pitch is a strike one out one on here in the seventh Tyler Beck on the mound for the Spartans now Stallings wait so it's Warren on first swings at that one and misses strike two tied urbex out-pitch is said to be his slider now he has a 92 92 mile an hour fastball he's got a good change as well let's see if we see the slider race down the line but foul well he got a round on that one followed by about 5 to 10 feet down the left field line Jewellers oh really like styler back missed a couple years of Pasco Hernando's State started out as a redshirt at Purdue University Division one swing-and-a-miss that will take care of Stallings it stood high and he couldn't get around on it in time she's Tyler Becks the kind of guy that you're gonna see late in games maybe as a set up guy perhaps even as a closer on occasion if you see Shane Bickle having pitched the night before this is Caleb slaughter now coming to the plate pinch-hit yesterday actually ended up with three at-bats before the day was out yesterday he is a senior from Cochran Georgia two outs now the pitch swings at that one and misses vo one pitch ball hi Spartans are gonna hit the road for the next couple games the next four games to be exact four different opponents for the next four games they head up to Pensacola Florida next weekend for games on Friday Saturday and Sunday three different teams they will be playing up there while hi they will be playing at West Florida it's the home field of West Florida and on Friday that will play West Florida at 6:00 Saturday they will play Spring Hill at one o'clock Spring Hill is a team that's often come to Tampa and played a three-game series and then on Sunday they'll be playing Palm Beach Atlantic a Sunshine State Conference fall in a non-conference from but regional game slaughter pops it up trial and right heads over toward the line weights makes the catch the inning is over so ain't no run one hit inning Tyler Beck gets out of it quickly and we played six and a half if you're at the ballpark or at home needs some to do it seventh-inning stretch time so stand up it's here for your team as it is eleven to one Tampa on top as we head to the bottom of the seventh of Spartans will send up a galley Smith and Earhart right here on Tampa Spartans got TV of our fine sponsors whose Crowne Plaza you can stay at Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts it's Z place to me in one of my favorite places Krispy Kreme generations Krispy Kremes been serving delicious doughnuts and coffee visit the nearest Krispy Kreme on West Kennedy Krispy Kreme serving hot donuts right now Jack's standing up for the stretch I am nothing wrong with that heard my knees as I stood up but I heard a grunt yeah not been there done that you know it's a beautiful day to be here and a nice crowd we do have some fans from Georgia College that have made the trip I saw today in the paper or actually I think I saw it on Twitter a report that Disney World has done it again they have raised the prices really and they need more money they do I think it was going up the free for the I'm not mistaken they have four different times of year and the time that's the least busy the tickets are going up two dollars meaning during the time of day I think this is okay the middle kind of area where it's a little busier but not totally you know Spring Break kind of thing they're going up four dollars and then these times are going up eight dollars correctly don't hold me to it but I think it's $129 a day now yeah we know for $129 you could buy season tickets I think that of Tampa baseball game for a couple years just tell them Jack Ike said that you can get it at $29 for two years see if you can talk your way in and will give me a fast pass to the front row yeah [Music] it's I know it's a marvelous experience but it's more of a simple and I know you know professional sporting events are in the same ballpark I mean you know $250 for NBA lower bowl seats now and things like that so it's it's it's expensive you can advance sometimes but the thing is is typically if you're going as a fan you're not going as a family right to a sporting event if you're going to Disney World you're not going as a couple for the most part husband and wife you're going is a one to eight kids exactly that becomes an investment that's just to get into the park yeah an investment that falls faster than those Bitcoin yes that's exactly where I was headed yeah that's just to get into the park that's not - that's not your lodging this is Brandon galley have a friend I work with who was just bragging everyday because he bought Bitcoin and he's like I'm up like he's in buy a lot but I'm up like $400 say next day he'd come in and say I love about 250 today and I yes until 8:00 Lee I'm not talking about no the other thing about and I love I took my kids there I've done it we've been there twice yeah it's absolutely a wonderful place it's a little experience but I have a niece I have two nieces and they're about six years apart apart and they took the older nice by yourself the first time and there's a pop up and giving chase his slaughter and he makes the catch slaughter stays into play moose are still on the mound see if there's any other changes Warren has gone to left field slaughter playing first base and Holloway is now behind the plate Spartans are sending up Danny Maynard to the plate master Smith Smith's today is over Danny Maynard coming in has played a lot this year he's from burnt Hills New York my way of Maryland University of Maryland is a make a minute catcher but he has played outfield as well he's played right field he may they may move what they've done in the past is move Conner krile to left and Maynard to right we'll see what happens nice day by the way for Steven Smith three for four three runs scored drove in a run had an RBI double let's back-to-back three for four days yeah curveball strike finished us a shower they took they took the older daughter when she was very young and I want to say five years old perhaps five years old maybe before the other one was even born I can't recall but bottom line she's very young five or six years old she's now swing animus either a teenager just become a teenager she's 12 okay so there they took the family there again last summer and they stayed with us and we asked what do you remember about the first time and she said I was there before yeah hardly anything about it she said she did say well I don't have very many memories of it being there but I've seen the pictures so you start to wonder at what point is the good level and when do you take them you want to be appreciated I love this new world don't get me wrong it's a great it's a great thing everybody should do it at least and that will get Danny Maynard up pass to first as another HIA hittin ankle is that an official step ok another pinch-hitter coming up for the Spartans number 21 Garrett back and he is batting for Earhart I was going to say Garrett back typically comes in as a second baseman or a shortstop we took Devon when she was in fifth or five or six years olds he was either in kindergarten or first grade in Wisconsin they had like three days in October which were like teachers convention days and stuff so school was out so we took her then we had to park to herself Wow is everyone else in the u.s. is in school yeah and we were one of the only ones whose were speaking English cuz people from all over the world right aren't quite on the same schedule for the academic calendars we are interesting yeah and we I mean I did go on a ride and I get back in line and I would be second in line there were no lines no fast pass unnecessary and then we went a couple years ago I was Grandma and Grandpa in late May early June right when school was getting out and it was busy and huh yeah back down the line but foul into the Spartan bullpen you mentioned he's batting for Earhart he had a nice day three for four and scored a couple gonna have a few of those when you've got 15 hits on the board and the pitch back flies went out to centerfield a little bit short actually shortstop Gentry waits and makes the catch back had to advance one at-bat I should say now he has two at-bats no hit and another pinch-hitter coming up for the Spartans we mentioned that this is mountains over so we'll make those moves call Perry coming up the levy started yesterday's game this is his first year at UT he spent a couple years at st. Johns River State College Jacksonville Florida native out of Atlantic Coast High School it's kind of neat to have high school names like Atlantic coast Gadsden yeah you know right where your high school lives your own Atlantic coast this guy's got some pop in his bat by the way he has a longer swing which could mean more strikeouts potentially but he has power in not not everybody has the ability to hit the ball out of the park this guy can the pitch foul Ross two outs runner on first that is Danny Maynard got hit by the pitch a couple batters ago if it kind of brings it from the side or down under two doesn't they have a couple of them like that I think there's some probably one more out there it's yesterday and back fouls that one are Perry I should say follows that one off you know this is a situation that allows both coaches to get players in the game that's it's hard when in a tight game you want your what you consider your best or most productive players to be out there but now you know both sides you've got kids who want to get in there experienced game action and certainly for the Georgia college players they've got a long bus ride look-back so if you can get as many players in as possible it makes them feel a little better now about making that long ride to Tampa and at least it gives the coaches something to look at and work on before you get too deep into the heart of the schedule one two pitch outside I really like the way Tampa has bounced back though after dropping the opener and having their ace on the mound and then losing 3-2 giving up a run in the ninth it's like uh boy what's gonna happen here but they bounced back and led most of the way if not all the way yesterday and but hung on for dear life at the very end it's nothing out of ninth inning rally little bit low but then to come back today and put all these hitches together you know it's a two nothing game going to the bottom of the fifth and you're thinking uh this could go either way and then a four spot in the fifth and a five spot in the sixth and that's what we've been waiting for I know we're only six games into the season but we hadn't seen that until midway through today's game not only productive innings like that but the middle innings have been quietly runner goes ball foul I see Harrison Bragg is still on deck two things number one I mean you could take him out and you never know he could be called back he comes to bat in this inning but secondly he is a great defensive first baseman so I think you wanted to make me to go back probably if you're Joey Orso you want you're a decent fielder out there first base at least one more yeah get out in the right field does it get down it does and a base hit for Cole Perry runners on the corners I'm gonna make a note of that use of the runners on the court I see them on the corners yeah but if there's a delay in the game just watch where they are that might have been that last inning a case of stealing second the hard way yeah back back from third I know Jimmy Piersall once ran the bases backwards when he hit a home run it was his 100th home run if I was they let him get away with it is there something in the hole they instituted something happen after that nobody ever thought to do that before yeah except the whacky Jimmy fields off I was back in the 60s if I remember right I'd be the 1960s you have to clarify that nowadays oh boy i brag right here he can swing for the downs yeah just bounces it out to gentry at Short gentry hustles throws in time innings over so no runs one hit couple runners left on base we have now played seven full innings and it is Tampa eleven and Georgia collards one right here on Tampa Spartans TV and the Sunshine State digital network due up or be young gentry and Mattocks we'll see if Jason eller goes with any changes yeah those two beginnings as partners have nine men bad in the fifth and 10 men came to the plate in the sixth and they scored nine runs in those two innings total I are back on the mound I noticed when Devin comes to the game she comes ready she's got skittles gets three hit all rise fry she got gum she's got the iPad she is she's cute she's got it all going for ya we're in a dream cap around what you say I'm cute too I had a hamburger and fries - yeah she comes with dad dad comes armed with his wallet yes years ago in the mindset I've learned I'm not a dad I'm an ATM I think so so there are some fielding changes as a as a second as you mentioned file did go to left we have a change at third base you know if you can see those Perry has gone to third when Maynard has gone to the right krile moves to left back and back I should say Garrett back is that second Tyler back is pitching yeah so it is krile the turn go and Maynard left to right Perry galley back and brag third to first and gaff he's still catching and Tyler back because the pitcher stuff and a pinch-hitter on the first pitch out toward krile and he makes the catch and that pinch-hitting was furphy see if we can give him his due here before he gets too far back into the dugout because he didn't give us too much time number 20 years Eric Murphy who is a junior from Suwanee Georgia couch entry to lead off the leadoff hitters men kept in check this weekend over 3:00 today first pitch fastball outside top of the eighth Tampa 11 Georgia College 1 and dippin tuck all weekend long until midway through this game one-run win for Georgia College Friday one-run win for Tampa yesterday and I'm sorry Jane stayed closed today for a while indeed you talk about a guy who would really like a hit right here it's this guy Kyle Gentry fouled no hits went down the line it's gonna be up on the screen foul Gentry has had a tough time he was 1 for 4 on Friday night in the 3-2 to win he went over four with a walk yesterday and he's over three and hit into a double play today so it wasn't for one one hit so this guy that hit 441 last year won 411 that's about point O nine one call strike two balls two strikes and again I think you know coach Jason Ehlers leaving him out there understanding he needs a hit get it swings and misses here and goes down swinging got a little piece of it but just to hold it in to Gaffney's glove and well he walks very slowly back to so hey laughter we grew up and I'm sure he will still have a fine year I have no doubt about that I think you mentioned they have West Georgia on Wednesday Wednesday yes we've already played West Georgia too and they've actually lost to West Georgia and West Georgia typically one of the top teams in this region they were four and OH after beating Georgia College eight to four Georgia College actually led that game four to one and then gave up two runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth to lose eight to four Logan Maddox at the plate he wants to bat because he's got a face hit a double on a double today and in fact we can make we've mentioned it at the time that and the Ringo did a nice job of cutting off the ball and settle in a center field that almost made it to the wall if if he didn't get it and it did go rolling out to the wall that would have been a triple for sure yeah at least he did score after getting that double last game or last half man he had only one extra-base hit coming into this game it was a triple he has two doubles today swinging a Miss there so two strikes ball one two strikes two out here in the top of the eighth Joe is probably pretty happy with what he's seen from Tyler Beck that gave up a leadoff single that Nate small but since then he's retired five in a row and the pitch call strike three inning is over so Tyler Beck throws two really good innings of relief for the Spartans no runs no hits no errors nobody left on we have now played seven and a half and it is still Tampa 11 and Georgia College one so we've talked many times and I broadcasts about our favorite rock and roll bands work up of older guys and therefore we got older it's no secret the years is somewhere between 75 and a hundred Devin's probably seen him ten times well she gets taken backstage and she gets to go backstage yes and mrs. Simmons she trigger often travel and the other she gets to meet all the other band members but they don't know her as well as it had Chris we found out a few years ago that they are Green Bay Packer fans had never been to see a Packer game and I had them all lined up to go see like to go sing the national anthem at a packer preseason game and the band the future the Packer said yes well but they could not rearrange their schedule either they were touring in another part of the country and couldn't make it in that and Chris were bummed they have a grandson now from Pat jr. and last year Kevin bought them a about him and Aaron Rodgers Jersey nice nice see by the way Trevor heavens of freshmen is coming into the game to pitch here but he didn't talk about him but the thing I was gonna ask you when we have talked about our favorite songs at the Doobie Brothers yeah I was a big fan of the Michael McDonald era yeah now it was serious long time movie fans it was that good big fan of Michael I'm a fan of them and I like them but I really like the original lineup with Tom Johnston is the lead singer not Michael McDonald Michael McDonald became the brought into the band when Tom Johnson had a bleeding ulcer and almost died and had to give up touring and skunk Baxter was a guitarist with the doobies fan had played with Steely Dan and said you know we need another voice because Pat Simmons can't sing them all and he said this guy Michael McDonald sings background with steel steel again yeah he might be available so they brought him in just to tour with them for that summer while Tom Johnson was to get better and he didn't get better not for a while and Michael McDonald brought him that blue-eyed soul which I really like I like that sound I know again there's a lot of country in it yeah in their in their band and interesting you know it's interesting me you and I talked to about our favorite and Doobie song yeah and I'll take listen to the music China Grove long train running rocking down the highway sure even though I like taking it to the streets and what a fool believes right check a low flat at the plate by the flanger cancer coming in fouls that one off but there were also some songs we we went to one of the concerts and you said that some of your favorite songs are songs that were not even hits they were just on some of the early and my favorite song is called without you really and it was from the captain to me their second their second big commercial album which had China Grove and long train running okay and it was the last song on the first side if you were into albums I totally a.m. and Larry Lujack a legendary rock and roll disc jockey at WL us in Chicago that song got some airtime just never became a huge hit and there's a low fried speaking of a huge hit sense went out to scenter over the leftfielder but it was calling Mary Lou Jack said you can always tell when a band really like singing a song when you can't understand a word they're saying and it was just a good old fashioned rock n roll songs pinch-hitter again coming up for the Spartans is Drew Burkhart a sophomore from Steinbrenner high school right here in Tampa now we have tickets for them on May 16th coming to the Mid Florida amphitheater at the State Fair with Steely Dan and we hope Steely Dan is the same after the death of Walter Becker Donald Fagen the lead singer for Steely Dan and he wants to keep going in the memory of Walter Becker get out into centerfield going back toward the wall as Maddox makes the catch to down a couple pinch hitters fly out the good thing they're hitting the ball hitting it solidly Chris Gaffney to the plate now I know you had it weren't you gonna go see Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald water water and then you had to do the Blazers I did there was a it was part of the Clearwater Beach and they had a it was an outdoor event and I actually bought a seat you know it was there was launch seating one I actually bought a seat because I wanted to sit up any of the front paid for the ticket and then the trailblazers out of nowhere called and asked me to come and fill in for their play-by-play guy who had to take a medical leave of absence so after being retired for four years I took off I called the first dozen games of the NBA season for the Trail Blazers and they've called me back a couple of times they in January I called seven more games on two different road trips called I think twenty games total for the year or something like that so bottom line yeah but that was a great disappointment to me that I've seen them both individually kenny loggins was one of my favorite this is it probably one of my favorite songs and then obviously you know you talk about Michael McDonald he also not only backed up Steely Dan he backed up Kenny log and and you know so I wanted to see them in hopes that they would sing together good and they did and I wasn't there it got really good reviews thank you Jeff thank you for sure I didn't go see the guy would I wish that if you'd have told me they were coming I'd have gone with you and they're not gone when you couldn't yo yeah but we've had two tickets and you could have taken somebody I saw I mean I saw Michael McDonald's solo up in Wisconsin one time I saw Kenny Loggins with Loggins and Messina way back when I still think was a great it was on America very country they had a sentry playing to a country rock yeah I would have been a great one to see you know I saw Michael McDonald and Kenny I'm sorry Michael McDonald and Donald Fagen and I together and then I think I've shared with this with you I had to leave cuz I had to work in the barrier I had to get up like 2:00 in the morning to go to work a morning shift on radio so I left at 11 o'clock I said I got to leave my 11:00 to get just two hours sleep so we left and it was right at the end of Fagin set and on the encore Michael McDonald came out and backed him up on his head and all the hit songs that they had together and I just kicked myself forever fer I could have gone without sleep one night and I should have a new pitcher coming in Connor Wilson with two outs in the eighth he is a junior from Noonan floor Newnan Georgia plate of West Georgia Tech for a while his first batter to face will be Chris Gaffney Gaffney with a nice base hit drove in two runs last time up no balls one strike the pitch to Gaffney ground ball heading out to second takes a high hop fielded nicely in the throw over ends the inning his furphy making the play at second spartans no runs no hits no errors they leave none we head to the 9th with Tampa leading 11 to 1 you're watching right here on Tampa Spartans TV you and I try to catch some of these I call them the 401k tours yes these bands travel around it is fun it is fun you know it's funny because I've seen so many of these older generation bands play that I picture them now as these older gentlemen like I just freak out when I see them with their long hair in the 70s yeah and of look wow did they really look that I watched last night there wasn't much on TV that I was interested in one of the movie Network Showtime HBO I has a about an hour and a half two hours documentary on Eric Clapton his life was it good yes I saw you called life in 12 bars and I mean he the greatest he is and was was mixed up for a long time he had some serious drug on me I mean I went from heroin and then he got over that so he's thought drinking would be a suitable substitute and it was almost worse some personal problems he said he commented that he can listen to some of his hit songs and I don't know if they ever highlighted which ones but he said I can tell you which songs I was singing when I was drunk he said I know they were hits but I can tell that I was an alcoholic at do have a new pitcher here Jack Christian Kalia is coming in for Tampa left-hander six-foot seen her out of Hialeah it's been a couple years at the palm beach statement last year started a lot of games here last year 16 starts and left for Ando with a 5.3 3 earned run average I believe he had been hurt and is working his way back this is the top of the ninth most likely the last half-inning we will do today here's a guy who again he was the number two starter last year and was not as effective maybe as the expectations might have been he's finding himself now having to pitch out of the bullpen and and in a different role because with that pitching depth many of whom came in this year it has put some players and including Christian in a different situation a tough situation and hopefully he'll pitch well and move back up in the rotation if you will not necessarily been starting but just even the out of the bullpen his family used to always drive up here for that Saturday he used to pitch the first game Saturday and from Miami area his family used to always get front-row seats and bring about half a dozen of them watch them pitch Wesley Womack the first matter he will face Womack a one for three day with a base hit and an RBI last time one is hit foul down the line our next game we will broadcast the game at the Phillies though it's technically a road game and that is on February 22nd but our next broadcast here will be the next day when Florida Tech comes to town as we jump into Sunshine State Conference play so makes a little tough on Joe verso because he's got that game that a lot of people anticipate against the Phillies on Thursday but he's got to actually keep the team ready to start conference play there's a ground ball out the second back field they're back I should say fields it and there's one down you of course can hear from Jack and I though on the basketball games yes matter day yeah there's a Wednesday game we it's a road game so we do not do that game that's a Palm Beach Atlantic but then the senior season and listen to me Senior Day Saturday February 17th and there are some fine seniors on both teams both the men's and the women's and they'll be honored of course on senior day before they ever riddle games two o'clock and four o'clock those two games and the women fighting for position in the Sunshine State Conference tournament want to be one of the top 14 so you will host a first round game at your site they have a chance the men probably not making the top eight and even qualifying for the tournament so will be for sure the last home game there they have literally at this point no chance to be in the top four there's one looped out in the right-field falls in front of Maynard so I'm 1 out base hit and we'll bring up Mike Warren singled his last time up as a pinch-hitter now having left fielder number 16 so Warren at the plate Holloway on bass and the pitch in the dirt blocked my caffeine I heard a little bit of your broadcast yesterday with Casey Scoggins does a fine job yeah for being a rookie in the booth yeah and you were saying he's going to play at an independent league in Illinois Naperville Illinois a suburb of Chicago Brown ball fielded it by Calle ha the throw gets wrong the return is in time double play ends the game a little unconventional double play but they do it and the Spartans get the win so Tampa takes care of Georgia College 11:00 to 1:00 this afternoon a big win for Tampa as they scored two in the first four in the fifth five in the sixth to take the 11 to one win for Tampa 11 runs 16 hits no errors say that date for Georgia College one run seven hits one error for a nice game a good comeback again starting this series with a loss there's a bitter pill to swallow for Joe or so and his fart ins but they did come back and want a nail-biter yesterday 5-4 and then now today breaking it open with the big innings in the middle innings and winning by 10 so this is a real good feel good victory for the Spartans Georgia College if you know they're gonna do fine in maybe 12 conference I don't think there's any doubt these they showed me a lot not so much today as they did in the first two games but I think this is a team that's going to be reckoned with and we might see them in the South Region somewhere yeah no doubt about that tournament ton one of the eight teams representing the South when it comes to tournament times Martens get to win Pimentel will get the win to go to two and OH on the season Spartans will head north to Pensacola for free games next weekend and then down to Clearwater on in about ten days eleven days to play the Philadelphia Phillies back here on Friday February 23rd with a the start of the Sunshine State Conference against Florida Tech will be a Friday single game at night and a doubleheader as we get into those doubleheader conference double headers right after that so all right Spartans go now to 4 & 2 on the year and Georgia College goes to 3 and 3 on the season good weekend series for Tampa after losing that first game so for Scotland this is Jack Naik saying thanks for joining us you've been watching this game on Tampa Spartans TV and the Sunshine State digital network [Music] tokyo ville monde dissertation examples New York Academy of Art.
